POPIA Compliance Notice
Autoweb CC is committed to full compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, which came into full effect on 1 July 2021.
Information Officer
Autoweb CC has appointed a duly designated Information Officer responsible for ensuring compliance with POPIA. Contact: privacy@autofair.co.za
Lawful Basis for Processing
We process personal information on the following lawful grounds: consent (where you have given explicit consent); contract (where processing is necessary for a contract with you); legal obligation (where we are required by law); and legitimate interests (to improve our platform and prevent fraud).
Data Subject Rights
Under POPIA, you as a data subject have the right to: be notified when we collect your personal information; access personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; object to processing of your personal information; and to complain to the Information Regulator.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of your data subject rights, please submit a written request to: privacy@autofair.co.za. We will respond within 30 days as required by POPIA. We may request proof of identity before actioning your request.
Cross-Border Transfers
Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa (for example to cloud service providers), we ensure adequate safeguards are in place as required by POPIA Section 72.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of the breach, as required by POPIA.
